Doctor English

A special grammar course on offer for a limited time only. This course revisits selected English grammar points learned in school and featured in school textbooks, reviewing basic rules and (with the help of Doctor English) clearing up irregularities and exceptions that English learners can find confusing. Addressing previous reviews, I didn’t experience any buffering, but the module still took much longer than one lesson slot. There was still no fast-forward, unlike other training tasks on LearnDash. It would be almost impossible to take notes. To prepare, I’d make sure I have at least two lesson slots available to finish this module, if you haven’t done it yet. Some of the questions could have an argument for either answer, but I’d say it’s relatively easy to tell which answer the test creator wants you to give.

Same problems as the other two reviewers pointed out; the buffering issue has yet to be fixed despite it being nearly a month since the first review pointing it out. Can be somewhat worked around by right-clicking and saving the video clips to your PC’s hard drive, but the videos themselves are oversized (465 MB for an 8 minute video is ridiculous) and is probably at least part of WHY the buffering issue is happening in the first place. If you know you’re going to have a training period later in the day, downloading and saving the videos in advance might be a good strategy going forward.

Most of questions are too vague and too difficult so you have to go back and rewatch some parts to find out the answer. On top of that the video is often buffering and with no x2 playback speed it’s almost impossible to complete in just one GDH.

Constant Buffering & Non-Optimized Layout
★★★★★

Constantly got the spinning wheel and buffering, which made the already-too-long (i.e. longer than one 40-minute lesson) training impossible to complete in the time available. It was like trying to watch YouTube on a dial-up connection in the 1990s… (Nothing wrong with the internet speed at my end: ping 24ms, 8.58 Mb/s download, 8.05Mb/s upload.)

The questions (up to four per video) were under the video, rather than alongside, making it impossible to watch the video and read the questions at the same time – constant scrolling up and down was required.

Question 3 was ambiguous, and both answers could be argued.
