Reading Skills: Combined Sounds (Class 4)

This training will provide you with the knowledge and skills to effectively practice using digraphs, consonant blends, and basic single letter sounds to sound out and spell short words. You will also be able to set up engaging phonics activities to support effective student practice with phonics.

You will be able to:

• teach students how to recognize and reproduce the sounds that single letters and different combinations of letters commonly make
• help students become able to successfully read and write both familiar and unknown words
• work in Class 4 lessons to focus on letter combinations where two or more letters combine to make a single sound that cannot be correctly guessed by sounding out the basic letter sounds
